A couple sentenced for Lottery fraud have only narrowly escaped time behind bars. Michael and Amanda Stacey found a Daily Play ticket and claimed the £30,000 prize it won as if it were their own. The couple had spent £15,000 when the rightful National Lottery winner raised the alarm, leading the police to freeze the remainder of the payout.

Leicestershire Lotto Library

A Leicestershire ‘Lotto’ library has been opened thanks to a Big Lottery Fund award of £781,402. The Newbold Verdon Library near Leicester is the first of 58 newly renovated Lotto libraries that we can expect to see opening across the country, and a total of £80 million of National Lottery cash will be invested in the project.

A couple of National Lottery players in Cumbria matched all six main Lotto numbers to win the jackpot on Saturday 28 March, 2009. There were five jackpot-winners in all, but because it was a double rollover jackpot each winner received a share worth £2,783,114.
